A beatufil time to doze off - A Beautiful Mind Reviews

Slow and unimaginative beginning, mediocre body, and a poor ending- The movie not only failed to tell the story of John Nash, but it failed to be interesting! After the brilliant but asocial mathematician John Forbes Nash (played by Russell Crowe) accepts secret work in cryptography, his life takes a nightmarish turn. He finds himself battling schizophrenia, trying to keep his relationship with Alicia Nash (played by Jennifer Connelly) alive, and struggling to find his way back into sanity. Yet, throughout all of it, he's able to win the Nobel Prize. I won't pretend to be an expert on the life of John Nash, but I do it was darker and more bizarre than what the movie tried to exhibit. In many books and articles, he is described as tortured and heavily depressed. In the film, Russell Crowe failed to uphold that description. Also, the story didn't play in favor to the actual story of John Nash. It was more fiction than biography. In addition to being more like fiction, it was hella boring. I mean if they wee going to change certain elements of the story, they could have done a way better job. For example, focusing in on how his condition affected the lives of others. They touched on how it affected Alicia, but not much. And they could have mad ea scene where John sort of reflects on the aftermath of this past condition, but they don't. Fiction without a cause. The only thing that truly saved this move from complete failure was Jennifer Connelly and the story that revolved around her character, Alicia. Connelly gave an award winning performance in this film- unlike anybody else in the film, she actually brought her character to life. Overall, I'd give this film a C+. It?s one of the most overrated films that it has ever been my misfortune to see.
